Reykjavík City Journal is a community-driven, online-only publication. At this time, we are built by locals, newcomers, and longtime admirers of the city.

We’re always looking for original writing, photography, and visual essays that reflect life in Reykjavík. Whether you’re an established creative or just starting out, we welcome pitches that bring a unique perspective and sense of place.

What we’re looking for:

• Reported features, interviews, and cultural commentary
• Photo essays with a documentary or artistic lens
• Personal reflections connected to the city or Icelandic experience
• Sharp, observant, or humorous takes on everyday life

Please note: As a grassroots project, we currently cannot offer financial compensation. All contributions are on a voluntary basis and credited fully. We’re working to grow this platform and deeply value those who help shape it.

To pitch or submit:

• Send us a message on Instagram with a short summary of your idea
• Include a sample of your writing or photography, if possible.
• Tell us a bit about yourself and your connection to Reykjavík

We review all submissions but may not be able to respond to everyone. If your piece is a good fit, we’ll be in touch within two weeks.
